Muzza Bridge, Treviglio

Ponte della Muzza

Railway bridge with level deck characterised by 5 segments, 4 of which are single tube and 1 double tube, with guaranteed continuity. The railway deck features an overall height equal to 2.50 m.

The customer’s request was to make fully self-supporting structural projects with large span in 12 days to guarantee work safety. Construction, located between the two banks of the Muzza canal made shoring the roof slabs impossible.

The proposed solution consisted in making a large slab consisting of 211 mixed steel-concrete truss girders 24 metres long for a total of 2200 tonnes of worked steel. Supply took place respecting the 12 days to execute the task. Placing mixed steel-concrete truss girders side by side allowed a work plan to be available right from the beginning that guaranteed the required safety conditions for workers.
